Privacy policy

How Club Forster and Sporties Tuncurry, trading as Forster Tuncurry Memorial Services Club Ltd (ABN 65 000 919 817), collect, use and protect your personal information. Policy dated March 2014.

Who this covers

This policy applies to members, guests and visitors at both clubs, on our website and anywhere else you deal with us. It follows the Australian Privacy Principles, which replaced the National Privacy Principles on 12 March 2014, and the Privacy Amendment (Enhancing Privacy Protection) Act 2012, which amends the Privacy Act 1988.

We'll be open about how and why we collect and use information. Where you can choose not to have your information collected or used in a particular way, we'll give you that choice. We review our policies from time to time; any changes will be posted here and are available on request.

What we collect and why

As a registered club, we're required to collect basic member information such as names, addresses and contact details. We also hold basic details for staff, suppliers and contractors.

We may collect information when you apply for membership, buy food, drinks or other products, pay by card, use our website or Wi-Fi, enter a competition or vote, use our services, or fill in a survey.

Information the law requires

Member contact details are held in a secure membership database. They aren't shared outside the club and its venues, except for database maintenance or software development under strict agreements and supervision.

By law, a visitor who lives within 5 km must be signed in by a current member, or can use an affiliated club's membership card. To make signing in simple, reception scans visitors' ID (driver's licence, photo card or pension card). If you'd rather not be scanned, you can enter your details by hand. This information is kept secure and used only to comply with the law.

When you use your membership card in a gaming machine, at a bar, restaurant or other point of sale, the activity earns points and is matched with your membership record. We use this information in combined form to decide how to improve what we offer.

Optional information

You can choose to give or update your address, email and mobile number on our website or in any app we introduce. If you send a complaint or compliment, your details help us respond.

We record which pages people visit on our website, so we know what readers find most useful. Research and surveys are interested in combined results, and we'll tell you if a survey could identify you personally.

Cookies and permissions

Our website uses cookies: small pieces of information stored in your browser that remember your visit and add security. They can't read your hard drive, take information from your browser or make your computer do anything.

We publish a magazine, newsletters and marketing material, and we'll ask whether you want to receive them. Competitions and promotions may ask you to accept their terms and conditions.

When we share it

We may disclose your personal information for research without revealing who you are, to get technical support for our databases or services, if you consent, if you enter a ClubSafe self-exclusion agreement, or if the law requires it.

Anything you post on social media pages connected with the clubs is public, and we can't control who sees it or why.

We won't send you unsolicited commercial messages that aren't about the clubs, their promotions, entertainment or services. We may use your details, activity and browsing history to send information about entertainment, promotions and dining you might like. You can opt out at any time.

Seeing and correcting it

To see the personal information we hold about you, write to Management. We'll handle your request under the relevant legislation.

Please keep your details accurate and up to date. You can update them on our website or at reception.

Keeping it safe

Your information may be kept on paper but is mostly stored electronically. We protect paper and electronic records with locks and security systems, and use firewalls, intrusion prevention, antivirus software, email filtering and passwords so only authorised staff can see it for approved purposes.

We take all reasonable steps to keep your information safe, but any information you give us carries some risk of loss, misuse or unauthorised access.

CCTV

For everyone's safety, both clubs have CCTV cameras monitored 24 hours a day, with signs around the venues. Only senior management can view footage, and only when warranted.

We give footage to Police on specific request. Each request is recorded and requires a release form.
